The green path of the river Piles is an accessible route of about 9 kilometers with an estimated duration of two and a half hours. It can be started a San Lorenzo beach all the way to the town of La Camocha in the parish of Vega.

Getting Started

You can start enjoying the sea scenery of San Lorenzo beach, take off your shoes and enjoy a beach walk. Head afterward towards the Isabel La Catolica park. There is a pedestrian underway crossing to avoid the traffic. It joins the parallel path to the Piles river heading out of Gijon. This green path passes beside El Molinon football stadium recently refurbished. It is the oldest football stadium in Spain for the local football team Real Sporting de Gijon.

The green path continues beside the Piles river passing by the sports complex of Las Mestas, and heading to the park of Viesques with several recreational areas to sit down and relax or playgrounds for children to enjoy.

It is a shared path by pedestrians and cyclists, and also very popular with pet owners walking their dogs. The green path continues crossing under the highways and out of Gijon. The Granda park provides several picnic areas available for your enjoyment.

Following the Piles Riverside

The green path becomes narrower heading besides the Piles river and getting to experience the countryside. Hence, you can listen to the murmur of the waters and the song of the birds along the shaded path. On the other hand, the cattle eat peacefully in the green meadows.
