32 Semana Negra

Semana Negra is one of the most popular literature festivals in Europe running since 1987. The 32nd edition is taking place from 5th to 14th July 2019. The premises are located at the former shipyard near the Gijon Aquarium.
Semana Negra was born around the idea of being a literature festival in a way to celebrate and promote culture. It started focussed on crime novels for seven days, and expanding towards other types of literature both national and international for eleven days.
The intense program covers solidarity acts, free concerts, book presentations, poetic events, screenings. The facilities include a book fair, bar terraces, multicultural markets, food courts, amusement park, and music concert areas. The concerts usually start every night at around 22:30.

Semana Negra produces a free daily newspaper named ‘A Quemarropa‘. It includes editorials, the daily program and general news about the festival. It is distributed every day at the premises and available as well at municipal centers, libraries, and some local business.
