
Gijon is ready once again to welcome Christmas! The colorful city decorations and joyful lights bring the warmth of the holiday season all over the city. The ceremony to switch on the lights took place on 5th December at the main square.
Festive Decorations
The Christmas lights will last until the 7th January when the holidays are officially over, and after The Three Wise Men parade on Friday 5th January. It is an excellent opportunity to walk around Gijon and enjoy its colorful streets.

Christmas Markets
Besides, there are plenty of activities planned by Gijon City Council to see and to do. As an example, there is the Menax Market at the city center in Paseo de Begoña. There is even a classic carousel for children to enjoy. Just around the corner, there is also the ArteGijon Market at Plaza 6 de Agosto.

There is also an ice rink with cafeteria service, a so-called snow mountain with an artificial slope to descend with pneumatic sleds, and a massive and dazzling Christmas tree. It can indeed be fun for both children and adults. Located at the Parque del Tren de la Libertad (also known as “el solarón“) at Sanz Crespo, 36.
There are of course more festive decorations around the port and Cimavilla for you to enjoy. Just stroll around the small streets of the oldest part of town, and discover its unique spaces.

Christmas Music
